May 8, 2005      Oops

Well, since we are still holding for our tools, Baron couldn't take the waiting anymore and decided to go ahead with what he had. Enid is such a small town that the tools sections of stores are REALLY small, no one had even heard of a #12 drill bit!!

So Baron went to the trusty web and found a site that converted the #12 to something in inches.

Here is were we made our first mistake, we were drilling out the holes in the spars when we looked down at the plans and went SH!T!!! See if you can spot our mistake...

yup one hole is bigger than the others....goofy song but it works here.

It will be all right though, and if this is our ONLY mistake I will be HUGELY surprised. I think it is time to yet again THANK VAN'S, in the RV kit is a neat little tool. Click on the photo below and it will show you a large close up of what I am talking about.

It shows you how to measure the bolt to see what size it is. We were doing it wrong at first, we were measuring them from the corner down, instead of the correct way from the top down...of well no harm done and look what we finally got accomplished.

If the bolt won't fit with pushing, get out the dead blow hammer. (A rubber mallet with steel balls in the head so that it hits softly but with some weight.) AND HIT IT!!!!!!

and again

and finally success! We have almost finished ONE piece....only about a million to go :~)

I wouldn't have it any other way.

With your airplane in your hands and a good dog at you feet what more do you need?

OK OK OK I know you still need beer, dinner, and so on but it sounded good for a minute didn't it?
